1. Pick a Topic: With the internet it is possible to make money without selling anything or you can sell other people’s products or even your own. There are so many different possibilities and ways to make money it is really up to your interests. So the first thing to do is decide what you would like a website about. There are no rules saying you only have to have one website, you can have as many as you want, but it is good to focus and work a little bit by bit building a website, so to begin start with something you really like so you won’t get bored with the topic.

2. Get a Website: A lot of people think that this might cost a lot of money, but honestly it costs less than $10 per year to buy a domain name, and it costs less than $10 a month to host it. WordPress is a great way to have a website within minutes, it is all set up for you and there are free templates that you can use to make them look nice, you don’t have to know how to build a website to have a website. And if you advertise the way I advertise, using free methods, your entire business expenses can just be around $130 a year.

3. Write Content: Once you have a website, you now have a place to start writing and posting content. By content I simply mean short 400 – 500 word articles about the topic of your choice that is relevant to your website. Once you post an article on your website, you will be including links within the article that will take people to a product that has to do with your topic, this can be a toy, a book, anything really. After you have a few posts on your website you will then write some more articles that are common with your posts and put them up on some article directories (this will be explained later.) Over time you will add content to your website and write other articles that will point to your website, this will help strengthen your website and help you rank naturally in the search engines. While there are many ways to make a living online, the best way that I discovered is to become an affiliate marketer, or internet marketer. This title might sound intimidating, but after a few quick lessons on what to do you will be a pro in no time at all. Some people choose to build their own websites, some choose to use pre made blog sites like blogger.com or wordpress.com, others simply choose to write articles and post them on article directories. All of these methods will get you traffic and ultimately put money in your pocket.

Without making things too complicated, the general idea behind being an affiliate is that you write short articles (like this one) about different things, topics, products, you name it. When you partner with businesses like Amazon.com (which is very easy to do), you then can make your very own link to a product that when clicked will take the consumer to the product they were looking for; if they buy it you will earn a percentage of the sale. And the beauty of Amazon is that you make a commission on anything they buy while there, not just the product they were initially interested in.

It took awhile to learn how to do it, there were so many empty promises out there I almost gave up. But after I found Wealthy Affiliate 3 years ago I knew I had finally found exactly what I was looking for.

Now I work a little everyday towards my goal, I already bring in extra money on a daily basis and I’m confident that my effort is all it will take to make not only the $1000/month that I wanted (which I actually do make sometimes) but way more than that. I personally know people who have been able to quit their full time jobs and just work from home. It takes time to get to that level, I’m not going to lie, that is why most people give up. But if you have what it takes to work a couple of hours or more everyday, you pick when, you can build an online business as well.

The best part is that even if you take time off, like I did, many of the things you worked on keep working for you. I don’t always make the $1000/month, things online fluxuate all of the time with the seasons and what not, but overall if you stay consistent your income will too and usually will grow instead of decline. I actually took pretty much all of last year off to work on my music instead, and guess what? I still made money everyday even though I wasn’t actively building my business at the time.

Now I’m getting back into the swing of things and building off of what I already have built. The work is interesting and fun for me, and the bottom line is that you are helping people. Either by giving them information or by helping them find what it is they are looking for.

The work isn’t all that hard once you know what to do, the hardest part for most people is just staying consistent with your work. In a nutshell this is what I do: I write articles about a product, I either publish those articles on my own website or I submit them to article directories which helps increase the exposure to my website (all for free). None of the things I do to actively build my business cost me money, I only pay for hosting and domain names and those costs are very minimal. So once you find something that works for you, you have a profit fairly quickly. This is a lot better than trying to open a business that has a lot of expenses, it is hard to see your first profit in those cases.

You can write about just about anything you like, so you can find something that interests you, learn more about it and share what you’ve learned. On your website you include an affiliate link (your own affiliate link), that way if someone clicks it and buys the product you earn a commission. I also make money through Google Adsense on my websites, this is a great way to have a steady income without actually having to “make a sale”. You just need traffic in order to make that kind of money, and you get traffic by writing articles.

Article marketing simply means writing an article about a product or topic and either publishing it on a website or submitting it to an article directory online. When someone reads your article and clicks through to the product or your website and makes a purchase then you would earn a commission.

It is a free way of getting traffic to your website or even to an article that you’ve written. You can write another article about the topic or something similar and point it to your main article in order to drive traffic to it. Traffic equals sales which of course equal money, and since it is free advertising you earn a pure profit without having to worry about any out of pocket expenses.

I’m sure that anything free sounds too good to be true, but honestly other than the cost of learning how, which I do have a free course by the way, or perhaps the cost of a website which is less than $10 per year, every thing you can do to build your business can be free.

Now that you have a basic idea of article marketing, perhaps now you’d like some tips on how to apply it. The first thing I do when I begin article marketing is to find a product or topic that interests me. I will do some research about it and learn more so that I can help others who are looking for information about it.

I have a website for my articles so first I will publish the article on my website. After a time I will write another article with the same keywords (example: “How to Ride a Bike”), I might use the same order or change it up, like Ways to Ride a Bike, and then I will publish my article on EzineArticles or ArticlesBase. You can keep doing this with other directories or find other ways to gradually build links back to your website.

The more strength you build with your website by writing articles on a regular basis or writing articles that point to it, the farther you will reach in the search engine results. The higher you get the more traffic you’ll get, more traffic equals more money, either through selling the product or by making money from Google Adsense.

1. Sell Makeup: I’m sure most if not all of you have seen the Avon ads, you may even know someone who sells Avon for a living. And there is nothing wrong with this type of business at all. It is legitimate and provides a great income to many women out there, not to mention offering quality products to the consumer. But if selling makeup or making house calls isn’t your cup of tea, then this type of job probably isn’t what you are looking for.

2. Sell Candles: Same idea, different product. You can have parties and invite friends over, or throw parties at your friends house and make some money selling candles, it can be a fun and social job. But it isn’t really a necessity so the potential for making a lot of sales probably isn’t that high. And again, if you aren’t the social type, or if you want a full time job working from home then this too might not be the right opportunity.

3. Sell Whatever You Want: Selling whatever you want however, and being able to do so anytime from anywhere has a lot more potential. And when I say sell anything you want, I don’t just mean you have to focus on one thing. What if you could make a living selling all kinds of different products, without ever having to leave your house? And no parties either, be social when you want to be, to have fun, not to work. Affiliate marketing is how you can accomplish this kind of job. Wealthy Affiliate taught me how and they can do the same for you.

Of course there are many other ways to make money from home, online or otherwise. I by no means covered them all, just a few options and the best option, number 3, that worked really well for me. I get to work whenever I want or can, make money when I’m sleeping, and I never get bored because I can write about/sell any product I can think of, mine or someone else’s. One of the best ways to make some money as an affiliate marketer is to put up a website (not as hard as it sounds) and start writing articles for it and writing articles that point to it. You can sell products through Amazon.com or other businesses that let you affiliate with them (Commission Junction is another) and you can also make money by putting Google Adsense ads on your website.

I love Google Adsense because you can make money simply by having traffic to your website, you don’t have to worry about making a sale, or only making money by selling products. One website can have multiple income streams and you can set up a website about any topic you want.

This is great because it means you can write about things that interest you or you can find new interests, research them and write about them. This can be fun and rewarding as you get to learn new things as well.

Once you get the hang of things you can leave that website alone or occasionally add things to it and you can move on to another. Building a business gradually this way means that your income will gradually grow with time too, and it can become a very lucrative business over the years.

Some people think that real work from home jobs don’t exist, that online opportunities like this are get rich quick schemes and don’t believe they work, but they aren’t going to make you rich quickly, they can over time, but it does take work like any other job out there.

So if you are looking for a stay at home job, the first thing you need to ask yourself is are you up to the task? Do you have what it takes to make it work? It isn’t that the best stay at home jobs are hard, it is more so that the best ones take time to get off the ground and most people don’t have the patience for it. Speaking from experience though, I happen to know that the #1 stay at home job, internet marketing, while also the hardest mentally, it is the best financially as well. I’m sure you’ve heard of the set it up and leave it businesses that claim you’ll get passive income once things are in place. The downfall to these is that they don’t really work, not long term. But internet marketing does work, like everything else in life you have to find the area that works for you and then set up shop and take the necessary action to keep it working. In the end you will be making passive income, but that doesn’t happen right away and even though you can walk away to a certain extent and still make money, this kind of work is actually fun and to keep the money coming in consistently it is likely you’ll want to be active in your business even if on a part-time basis later on.

So why is internet marketing the best stay at home job and how can you get started? Internet marketing is a complicated term for an easy process. People are always shopping online and they are always doing research online, all you have to do is help them find what they are looking for and then earn a commission for your trouble when a purchase is made. You can do this by setting up a website and talking about things that interest you, reviewing products that people are interested in buying or simply writing articles and directing people to merchant sites like Amazon.com.

If you can write an article like this one on any topic of your choosing and you can do this each and everyday, then you can have one of the best stay at home jobs around. You don’t have to sell makeup, or be a part of some bigger franchise in order to work from home. You can be self-employed, work when you want, how you want and anywhere you want. If you have a laptop you can work on the beach if you want; I haven’t done that yet, but I have made money while jogging on the beach, it is always nice to make money when you are on vacation.

Your income level is limitless, just be sure you realize that it takes time to see some results, earning money online by writing articles isn’t going to make you rich overnight, it may never make you “rich” so to speak, although it certainly could, it is purely based on your level of action and what areas you choose to focus on. It is no different than certain regular jobs paying more than others, if you choose a topic that a lot of people are interested in purchasing items from your income level will be higher, then say if you choose to write about a certain travel destination that only a small minority are interested in.
