It took awhile to learn how to do it, there were so many empty promises out there I almost gave up. But after I found Wealthy Affiliate 3 years ago I knew I had finally found exactly what I was looking for.

Now I work a little everyday towards my goal, I already bring in extra money on a daily basis and I’m confident that my effort is all it will take to make not only the $1000/month that I wanted (which I actually do make sometimes) but way more than that. I personally know people who have been able to quit their full time jobs and just work from home. It takes time to get to that level, I’m not going to lie, that is why most people give up. But if you have what it takes to work a couple of hours or more everyday, you pick when, you can build an online business as well.

The best part is that even if you take time off, like I did, many of the things you worked on keep working for you. I don’t always make the $1000/month, things online fluxuate all of the time with the seasons and what not, but overall if you stay consistent your income will too and usually will grow instead of decline. I actually took pretty much all of last year off to work on my music instead, and guess what? I still made money everyday even though I wasn’t actively building my business at the time.

Now I’m getting back into the swing of things and building off of what I already have built. The work is interesting and fun for me, and the bottom line is that you are helping people. Either by giving them information or by helping them find what it is they are looking for.

The work isn’t all that hard once you know what to do, the hardest part for most people is just staying consistent with your work. In a nutshell this is what I do: I write articles about a product, I either publish those articles on my own website or I submit them to article directories which helps increase the exposure to my website (all for free). None of the things I do to actively build my business cost me money, I only pay for hosting and domain names and those costs are very minimal. So once you find something that works for you, you have a profit fairly quickly. This is a lot better than trying to open a business that has a lot of expenses, it is hard to see your first profit in those cases.

You can write about just about anything you like, so you can find something that interests you, learn more about it and share what you’ve learned. On your website you include an affiliate link (your own affiliate link), that way if someone clicks it and buys the product you earn a commission. I also make money through Google Adsense on my websites, this is a great way to have a steady income without actually having to “make a sale”. You just need traffic in order to make that kind of money, and you get traffic by writing articles.

So if you are looking for a stay at home job, the first thing you need to ask yourself is are you up to the task? Do you have what it takes to make it work? It isn’t that the best stay at home jobs are hard, it is more so that the best ones take time to get off the ground and most people don’t have the patience for it. Speaking from experience though, I happen to know that the #1 stay at home job, internet marketing, while also the hardest mentally, it is the best financially as well. The sky is the limit once you get something working, you just have to know what to do and then constantly take action.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the set it up and leave it businesses that claim you’ll get passive income once things are in place. The downfall to these is that they don’t really work, not long term. But internet marketing does work, like everything else in life you have to find the area that works for you and then set up shop and take the necessary action to keep it working. In the end you will be making passive income, but that doesn’t happen right away and even though you can walk away to a certain extent and still make money, this kind of work is actually fun and to keep the money coming in consistently it is likely you’ll want to be active in your business even if on a part-time basis later on.

So why is internet marketing the best stay at home job and how can you get started? Internet marketing is a complicated term for an easy process. People are always shopping online and they are always doing research online, all you have to do is help them find what they are looking for and then earn a commission for your trouble when a purchase is made. You can do this by setting up a website and talking about things that interest you, reviewing products that people are interested in buying or simply writing articles and directing people to merchant sites like Amazon.com.

If you can write an article like this one on any topic of your choosing and you can do this each and everyday, then you can have one of the best stay at home jobs around. You don’t have to sell makeup, or be a part of some bigger franchise in order to work from home. You can be self-employed, work when you want, how you want and anywhere you want. If you have a laptop you can work on the beach if you want; I haven’t done that yet, but I have made money while jogging on the beach, it is always nice to make money when you are on vacation.

Your income level is limitless, just be sure you realize that it takes time to see some results, earning money online by writing articles isn’t going to make you rich overnight, it may never make you “rich” so to speak, although it certainly could, it is purely based on your level of action and what areas you choose to focus on. It is no different than certain regular jobs paying more than others, if you choose a topic that a lot of people are interested in purchasing items from your income level will be higher, then say if you choose to write about a certain travel destination that only a small minority are interested in.

While there are many ways to make a living online, the best way that I discovered is to become an affiliate marketer, or internet marketer. This title might sound intimidating, but after a few quick lessons on what to do you will be a pro in no time at all. Some people choose to build their own websites, some choose to use pre made blog sites like blogger.com or wordpress.com, others simply choose to write articles and post them on article directories. All of these methods will get you traffic and ultimately put money in your pocket.

Without making things too complicated, the general idea behind being an affiliate is that you write short articles (like this one) about different things, topics, products, you name it. When you partner with businesses like Amazon.com (which is very easy to do), you then can make your very own link to a product that when clicked will take the consumer to the product they were looking for; if they buy it you will earn a percentage of the sale. And the beauty of Amazon is that you make a commission on anything they buy while there, not just the product they were initially interested in.

1. Internet Marketer – I personally searched high and low trying to uncover a way to make at least $1000/month online in order to replace my part-time job I could no longer work after having kids…it took me 5 years to finally find something, but I did and internet marketing/affiliate marketing was the answer. I don’t want to confuse newbies with the complexities of it, but the bottom line is that you can make a full time income online as an internet marketer and end up over time making what you make in your current job and then some. As an online marketer you are basically a matchmaker between people and products, help people find what they are looking for anyway and you can make a commission in return.

2. Freelance Article Writer – If you want to start making money right away and have less of a learning curve involved you could do freelance article marketing. There are literally thousands of people working online who are willing to pay you to write articles for them. Unique content is key if you are an internet marketer, but sometimes it can be hard to keep up, which is where you would come in. So if you are willing to write a little, you can make money for each article and put money in your pocket right away. If you want to bridge the gap between article writer and an internet marketer, WA Jobs is great because you can learn internet marketing at WA while “working” as an article writer, there are tons of jobs posted on WA Jobs every day.

3. Global Domains International – GDI is kinda cool because if you want to spread the word about this business to people, they will reward you with monthly compensation. It is an MLM but a brilliant one so if you aren’t against those (there really isn’t anything wrong with most MLM’s out there). They give you the material you use to spread the word so you don’t actually have to “sell” anything yourself, just spread the word. The compensation is really good too, even if you just work with GDI, and do it well you will be making a comfortable living online.

4. Project Payday – I don’t endorse this stay at home job strongly, but I will say that it does work for a lot of people and is a legitimate way of making money. It has to do with incentivized freebie websites and in exchange for your information people will pay you to fill out offers for programs and products. I personally don’t like giving out my personal info. so never really liked this kind of online job, but if options 1-3 don’t interest you then I do suggest at least taking a look at this option.

5. Paid Surveys – Taking surveys online has been around awhile and although I made a teensy weeny amount of money with them, I didn’t have the patience for such little pay…BUT they do work and some people who stick with it and do a lot of them, can make some nice extra cash with online surveys.

There you have it, the best stay at home jobs that you’ll find online. If anyone out there finds others, please feel free to add to my list, but after 5 years and a lot of learning these options are truly the best (#1 and #2 being THE best!) I found Project Payday while running my many searches to find a stay at home job. I was incredibly excited after I discovered it, was even planning on keeping it a secret from my hubby (we don’t really keep secrets!) until I started to rake in the dough.

I signed up, learned everything I needed to in order to get started and then was just about to put in my first offer when I stopped cold in my tracks.

So What is Project Payday and What Kept it From Working for Me?

Project Payday is a business that was put together to help you profit from those “offers” you see online for free stuff. You know the ones…give me your information (name, address, e-mail) and we’ll send you THIS (a computer, TV, camera…the list goes on). All YOU have to do is complete a few of these offers and it’s yours.

You’ve seen those right?

Anyway, Project Payday teaches people how they can actually make money by completing these offers. The idea is this…You strike up an agreement with someone who is willing to pay you say…$25 for completing an offer. You give all of your information out (sometimes this requires you to actually give your credit card number and have a charge for something that you HAVE to remember to cancel, or else you could be billed monthly for insane amounts) and in exchange you’ll make $25.

The idea is simple enough, but what stopped me was the fact that I would have to be SIGNING up for all of this stuff, and while there is the potential to actually get free stuff too, PLUS the money from your agreement with someone. I just wasn’t very thrilled at the idea of always having my credit card number out there AND having to keep track of everything lest be charged monthly for who knows how much. Call me crazy, but I just couldn’t do it.

Now, I know there are people out there making this work, and after you get the hang of it you can switch and be the one offering the $25 for other people to complete the offers, this is DEFINITELY the better place to be, but until you do that…in my opinion it is just too risky and too much of a hassle.

So that’s it in a nutshell, Project Payday, fill out information for those Incentivized Freebie Websites, in exchange for money.

I’m not going to say Project Payday is a scam or say anything negative about it, it does and is working for others. Plus, if it weren’t for Project Payday I never would have found Wealthy Affiliate. And without Wealthy Affiliate I would still be searching online for a way to make money.

But I’m not. Wealthy Affiliate taught me how. And now I am doing something completely above board without risk that I am willing to do.
